A tally in rows of seven is a number already half written in base seven.

This part draws on Ch 16. It shows when your spoiler level reaches it.

Twenty-five rows of seven is three squares of forty-nine and four rows over, so a hundred and eighty-one is three forty-nines, four sevens and six: 346 in base seven.

346 in notch digits: rum khe, kas khi, nir.

In the ledger a full row of seven is closed by striking it through, and that strike is khi, seven. Look again at how the rows on the ridge are drawn.
