Accessibility
Last updated
We want everyone to be able to read, play and take part here, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link first.
- Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios in both the day theme and the Night Shift theme. Our build fails if a colour pair drops below them.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the site stops its animations, including the opening Eye on the front page.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content.
- The Code’s signs are drawn as images. Where a sign carries meaning, it has a text label or its reading written beside it.
- Results of forms (such as signing up) are announced to screen readers.
- Nothing depends on sound. Every recording has a transcript.
What we know is not right yet
- The author’s recorded readings are not ready yet. Until they are, their transcripts stand in for them.
- The bot check that protects our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile) usually works invisibly, but occasionally asks you to tick a box. If it blocks you, tell us and we will help another way.
- Name cards made for sharing on social media are pictures of the Code’s signs. They are not meant to be read, so the image itself has no text; the page they link to does.
- The site has not yet been tested by disabled people with their own assistive technology. A full audit with disabled testers is planned before 1 March 2027.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on the site does not work for you, please tell us at hello@dreamscapecode.com. Say which page and what happened, and what device or assistive technology you use if you are comfortable sharing it. We aim to reply within five working days.
