The submission licence
Last updated
This page is outside the story. It explains the permission you give us when you submit something to the Dreamscape Code site. You accept it each time you submit, by ticking a box that is never ticked for you.
It stays yours
You keep the copyright in what you make. Submitting it does not transfer it to us.
You give us a non-exclusive licence: you can still publish it anywhere else, sell it under our Open Door Policy, or give it to someone else.
What you let us do with it
If a moderator approves it, we may show it on the site and in our apps, credited to the name you choose (your Earth number unless you set a display name), for as long as the site runs.
We may edit it lightly for length, spelling and spoilers, and we will never change what it says. We may translate it, credited to you and the translator.
We do not have to use it. Most submissions are published; some are not, and we tell you why in plain English.
No duty of confidence
Ideas are free. If something you sent us is like something the author is writing or later writes, that is not a use of your submission, and we owe you nothing for it. This protects you as well as us: nobody has to worry that reading a fan’s idea closes a door in the story.
Please do not send us anything you would mind other readers seeing.
What you promise
- You made it yourself, or you have the right to send it.
- It was made by a person. Art, voices and translations generated by AI are not accepted here.
- It does not break our Community Rules or the law, and it does not include anyone’s personal details.
- You are 16 or over.
Paid adoption
Sometimes we offer to adopt a submission into the canon of the site, for example a Map Canon contract. That is a separate written agreement with a fee, offered only to members aged 18 and over. Work by members aged 16 or 17 is always credited, and is paid only under an agreement a parent or guardian signs.
Adoption is never offered in return for money, rank or anything else you buy.
Taking it down
You can withdraw a submission at any time from its page. If you delete your account, approved submissions stay published without your name, unless you withdraw them first. Anything we adopted under a paid agreement follows that agreement.
